The NERC Valuing Nature Network (VNN) has launched a call for proposals for research projects into the valuation of biodiversity, ecosystem services and natural resource use, and the incorporation of such values within decision-making. The Science Plan: Challenges Underpinning the Call for Proposals Project Funding (see below) describes the two central themes which are the rationale of the VNN, and then continues to describe the scope of the call in terms of four challenges, each being illustrated through various issues and questions. These challenges have been co-constructed in a series of workshops involving scientists from a wide range of disciplines together with decision makers, including government, its agencies, NGOs and the private sectors.
The usual constraints on eligibility for NERC funding are suspended. Funds can be distributed to any participant from any institution in the project team for justified expenditure that contributes to the VNN fulfilling its over-arching objectives.
Applicants should read the guidelines for proposals described in the document Applying for VNN Project Funding before completing the Microsoft WORD Application Form template (both below).
Proposals should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org before Noon Thursday 22 September 2011.
